This is the second and much corrected edition of the 'Fifth' Pharmacopoeia', published less than a year after the first printing. Introductory text in English, rest in Latin. The 'Fifth Pharmacopoeia' was produced under Henry Plumptre's Presidency who oversaw its wholesale revision and re-construction, bringing it for the first time into the modern scientific age. This copy has the elegant armorial bookplate of the surgeon Edward Mars Elmhirst on the front paste-down end-paper.
